Black and White was my choice for the photoshoot this past week and I decided to go out to Frankenmuth yesterday to take some photos. It was nice since the day was a bit sunny and then became more cloudier toward the night. We went on the Bavarian Belle and walked around town a bit and I just took pictures of everything I saw. After taking pictures, I changed them all to black and white in photoshop and tried making the photos appealing to look at. Frankenmuth is definitely a good place to take photos of all sorts of things from food to animals to nature. I'd say it turned out to be a pretty good photoshoot. In my best photo, I took a photo of a small boat sitting on the side of a dock. You can see Rule of Thirds in this photo really well since the boat is in a corner sort of. I changed the photo up with some black and White touches and also used Camera Raw Filter to adjust the contrast, highlights, some whites and even added some clarity to give the photo some taste.

This weekend I went out to a park across the street from Huron High School and took a whole bunch of photos. I decided I was going to do Nature since that's what was all around me. It turned out to be a success, I saw many animals and even some berries, and the trees were different colors in different areas. The sun was also perfect since it was noon and I was able to capture a lot of shadows and different lighting patterns. It was definitely a fun experience and I recommend going out to a park and taking a lot of pictures. In the best photo I had a shot of a small squirrel, you may or may not guess but I actually cropped the photo to a smaller size and highlighted the squirrel and blew it up in the photo. I had to do some lighting changes and make the squirrel look like it was there before and I even added a paw to its right hand. The squirrel now takes up part of the scene and it makes it nice to look at. In this assignment we learned how retouch photos to make them look better. If you look at the before and after photos you can see that the background was taken out and made black. Some lighting was also taken out by using the Clone Stamp Tool and the windshield was tinted. We learned how to select different items on the photo and learned how to make precise selections and change them how we wanted to. The windshield was selected and tinted using Levels and the background was selected and changed to a black color. Some of the light reflections on the hood were removed with the Clone Stamp Tool. The after photo is definitely much more nice to look at than the before photo.
This weekend I was able to go to Pittsburgh for my brother's hockey tournament and take pictures. I had the opportunity to take lots of photos since it's hockey and there is so much action in the game. The best image says it all, the games were intense, fast, and fun to watch. Here we see Sasha (my brother) getting hit by the boards, it isn't exactly an ordinary photo, or it's not a boring picture to look at. This was a lot of fun taking pictures and I have been taking pictures for my brothers team at his games, I also enjoy playing around with the settings and trying new things. In our first Photoshop assignment we had to create an Andy Warhol-like Effect. We first took a photo of ourselves or someone else then cropped it and changed it to a black and white photo. After doing so, we created another image where we would measure out four different sections of the canvas. Then we pasted one photo at a time and changed the Hue/Saturation to a certain color making sure to check colorize in the box. After finishing all four photos, with all being different colors, we were finished.I learned more about filters in this assignment and learned a bit about the threshold dialog. Filters can change the way a picture looks with changing it's lighting or color. The threshold dialog allows you to change a photo to black and white and play around with how dark an area can get and how light. I had a photoshoot with Still life, taking pictures of objects that didn't move and creating light in the pictures with a lamp. I went around my house finding lemons, apples, a video recorder and other household objects that I used to take pictures of. I learned that it can be hard to control the light and the camera settings so that the pictures come out more clear. I had to turn down the shutter speed and aperture to get the lighting just where I wanted it to. I also learned it's a lot easier taking still life photos since you control the scene and decide what goes in and what does not. In this assignment we were supposed to take photos of 11 different elements. We were able to walk around the building and take unique pictures of the different compositions. I learned that pictures can be unique in their own way. Lots of pictures contain a mixture of different compositions. Compositions can also help improve the photo and give it quality. Also taking pictures from different angles and heights gives the photo a pleasure to look at. Rule of Thirds - Kids basketball hoop Pattern - Brick wall Symmetry - Long hallway Texture - Wood chips Depth of Field - Part of a Flower Lines - Wall with stripes Framing - Reflecting Wheel Perspective - Fruits from above Space - Wall light on red wall Balance - Part of a tree with sun shining Color - Strawberries I play hockey and have been my entire life. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and playing golf on occasion.
I took this class because I wanted to learn more about taking pictures and it seemed fun. I have a little experience with taking pictures over the years and my dad teaching me a bit about the camera and such. |
